Mark Gee, of Johnston, Iowa, is a Purdue graduate student pursing a Master's degree in biological engineering and a PhD degree in plant breeding. He aspires to engineer sustainable biological systems through the development of plants and environmentally friendly technology. Gee was a Beering Scholar as an undergraduate student at Purdue, earning three bachelor’s degrees in biological engineering, biochemistry and agronomy in 2019.
Before returning to graduate school, Gee worked for two years as a research engineer for PowerPollen in Iowa and Puerto Rico. In addition, he completed internships with Corteva Agriscience in Johnston, Iowa; the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center in Mexico; and MS Swaminathan Research Foundation in India.
