Nikos Georgiou acquired his BSc in 2013 at the Department of Geology, University of Patras, where he also obtained his MSc and Ph.D. in Marine Geology and Physical Oceanography. He is specialized in hydrographic surveying using marine geophysical equipment while his research is focused on seafloor mapping and data interpretation towards their evaluation as sea-level change indicators since the Last Interglacial. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, where he uses hydrodynamic numerical modeling for testing the hypothesis that the Last Interglacial extreme wave events were stronger than today.
