Abstract

• We propose a strategy combining geodetic reference frame definition and time series analysis to extract slow slip events from GNSS data. • We detect and characterize a shallow, 10-km-long, three-week-long SSE along the central section of the North Anatolian Fault. • We show that persistent aseismic slip and SSEs are spatially complementary and interact at shallow depth.
