R. Ponalagusamy received his Ph.D. in “Blood Flow through Stenosed Artery” from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, in 1986. The Environmental Research Corporation, Tokyo, Japan, awarded him a post-doctoral fellowship for two years (1987-1988) at Chuo University, Tokyo. During June, 1989-June, 1995, he was working as Lecturer and doing research in the field of Computational Fluid Mechanics. During July, 1996-June, 2005, he was working as Assistant Professor and doing research in the development of Mathematical and Computer models in the field of Processing of Advanced Materials, namely (i) Computer Aided Metal Flow Analysis in Streamlined Extrusion Die, (ii) Formability, Localized and Diffusion Necking, (iii) Wrinkling Tendency of Sheets Metals and Materials and (iv) Development of Yield Criterion for Sheet Metals. From July, 2005 to 28.04.2019, he was working as a Professor and from 29.04.2019 to till date, he has been working as Professor(HAG) and guiding research students in the fields of parallel algorithm, DNA Computing, Fuzzy Decision Making, Biomechanics/Biorheology, Solute Dispersion and Multiphase flows of Immiscible fluids. He is also guiding research students in the fields of parallel numerical computing and Digital Image Processing. He has so far produced fourteen Ph.Ds. in the fields of Computer models on Metal forming, DNA Computing, Image Processing, Parallel Algorithms and Biomechanics.
