Dr. Zhigang Peng is a professor of geophysics in the School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research mainly focuses on active fault zone structures and earthquake physics. He has published more than 140 papers in peer-reviewed journals with an H-index is 49 (from Google Scholar). He was an associate editor for both JGR and Bulletin of Seismological Society of America (BSSA) from 2011 to 2013, and the editor-in-chief for Seismological Research Letters from 2013 to 2019. He currently serves as the Board of Directors for the Seismological Society of America (SSA), the past president of the Eastern Section of the Seismological Society of America, and the chair of International Professional Association of Chinese Earth Scientists (IPACES). In 2010 he received the NSF CAREER award and the Charles Richter Award from the SSA. He received SSA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2020.
