Wiener et al. brought to light the “splay” ^1,2 an interesting new sign of mitral regurgitation, also described in other valvular regurgitations (VR) ³. However, some important considerations should be done on this sign since the true nature of this artefact and its role in echocardiography have not been completely clarified.
