Jonathan Javitt is a physician who has worked in the areas of drug and device development, health policy, and national security in addition to his work as a clinical ophthalmologist. He has served as an advisor to four Presidential administrations. He was appointed by President Clinton the the Health Reform Task Force and was commissioned by President Bush '43 as a Special Employee of the Undersecretary of Defense and a Committee Chair of the President's Information Technology Advisory Committee. He is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed publications that have been cited by more than 20,000. Google scholar ranks him among the top 1% of published scientists in the world.
Prof. Javitt is an adjunct Professor of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and has been recognized as an Alumnus of Merit of the Harvard School of Public Health. He is a Senior Fellow in the National Security Health Policy Institute of the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies.
