From its inception, it has been speculated that quantum computing could be the basis of consciousness and cognition. This idea had been soon rejected because it had been argued that long-range quantum coherence, which is the primary basis of quantum computing, cannot survive in complex biological systems. However, recent findings in photosynthesis show the contrary suggesting that only quantum coherence can account for its efficient in light-harvesting. This findings have challenged long-held views how biology may work and require now the experimental investigate of the brain in this respect.
Here, quantum coherence despite  may play a role in consciousness.
